System Information
Operating system: WINDOWS 10
Graphics card: NVIDIA GT 430

Blender Version
Broken: ( blender-2.80.0-git.e1d1899e7290-windows64 )
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
SOFTWARE CLOSES BY CLICKING MATERIALS TOOL

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

When you launch the material tool, the blender closes automatically, however, when I change the rendering to the cycles by selecting the material tab and changing to eevee then the error does not occur.

  • This may be the same issue as #63993 (Material tab crash with Intel HD 4x00 on Windows 7/8).
  • Ensure you have installed the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.
  • If this is a laptop with both Intel and NVIDIA cards, make sure you have the latest graphics drivers from the Intel website too. Changing the NVIDIA settings to always use the NVIDIA card for Blender may work around the issue.
  • If that doesn't help, please run blender_debug_gpu.cmd included in the Blender download, make Blender crash, and attach the resulting files here.

I encountered the same bug: open default scene, select the cube, create a new material, switch to edit mode, select the new material -crash on click-.

Verified on both official and homebrew builds.

Windows 10, latest nvidia drivers ( 430.86), geforces 1080 ti.

As far as I know this bug has been fixed, current download from blender.org and own compiled versions do not show this behavior anymore. I double checked with the "old-previous-download-from-last-week" just to be sure it wasn't a windows update solving the issue. The "old" version still crashes.

Let's consider this resolved then unless someone still encounters the issue.
