HI. i use Mac Book Pro 15-inch, Early 2011
running MAC OS high sierra version: 10.13.1 17B1003
2 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel H D Graphics 3000 512 MB

So i was baking a fluid simulation in blender 2.80 but i stopped it along the way.
Since then blender has frozen.

  1. I cant click anything anymore
  2. It wont tab into edit mode
  3. All keyboard shortcuts wont work
  4. The tools say internal error
    Screen Shot 2019-06-05 at 1.50.17 PM.png
if you request i could show a picture of the error.
funnily, blender 2.79b works just fine.
Does anyone have an idea why this is so.?

We have to reproduce this somehow. Can you share the .blend file in which the error happens when you click bake?

the thing is, the app has frozen. i closed it. and opened just single cube. nothing is working. not even ordinary tab into edit mode.

i honestly don,t know. i have included a .blend file with this reply. open it to see if you notice anything. i doubt that tho.

Does the problem persist, when you download the newest version of Blender 2.8?

Attached below is the .blend file of what i was working on. I can't use the mouse scroll wheel, i can't tab into edit mode, no keyboard shortcuts work.

The reason i feel it may not happen on your machine is because blender 2.80 works fine on my Samsung machine till now.
And this error happens to blender as a whole. not just when i create a file. i'm thing it has something with the blender 2.80 for MAC file

Yes. It persist As a matter of fact i just downloaded another one today and it's the same problem. i downloaded version 2.79 and it works fine till now.

the problem happens with only version 2.80 daily build of june 4th

I'm thinking of downloading an earlier daily build of blender 2.80 like around MAY to see if it has something to do with the june 4th build.

what do you think.?

Hello @JacquesLucke thanks for your assistance.

So i downloaded an earlier build And installed it on my MAC. Its a may 15 experimental build. Though it hasn't worked.

But Instead of the double internal error, i observed that it now shows the name of the tools when i mouseover them but shows internal error as the second. in the previous it shows double error.

i wont know if that gives you a clue. it looks like a build issue to me doesnt it.

Attached both old and new error so you can compare.

@RichardBlack In that .blend file you provided there seems to be no fluid domain.

I'm assuming Cube.001 is supposed to be the domain, so I made it the domain, started a bake, and cancelled.

Can you confirm that these sound like the correct reproduction steps? (I did not manage to reproduce the issue, but I'm not on Mac)

Are you still able to reproduce this on your side? Does reinstalling Blender fix this? If not, what about clearing your user preferences?(Here's a video from google to help with that on a Mac - You would have to delete or rename the 2.80 folder)

image.png it happened after I installed the addon tool
I also experienced the same thing, why did this happen?
can you give me a solution to this problem?

image.png
it turns out that this problem is in the add-on that I applied to blender 2.8, when I removed the addon in% appdata% it turned out that it worked again.

What addon exactly? I read back through the thread but I couldn't find any addon being mentioned. I might be bad at reading though. If it's an unofficial addon(one that you downloaded from the internet and did not come with blender) then you'll have to report the issue to the author of that addon.

hello i am still getting the same errors as i listed some days ago. And Since no one in particular is saying anything i will just conclude the problem is only related to my MACOS HIGH SIERRA.

Anyway, i did some digging in the info section in Blender. and i saw this error at the back of the problem. hope this might give anyone a clue as to what is the problem and what i can do.

Import error: cannot import name 'mapping proxy type' from 'types' (users/Mac/library/applications support//blender/2.80/scripts/addons/types/init_.py)

any suggestions will be highly valued.
By the way, big thanks to @JacquesLucke for all assistance, so far.

Hi. its quite easy solve this problem. Though i think you wont get much help from this forum since its a personal problem so to speak. I tried asking severally, but no one really proffered a solution which is understandable since its self caused.

Now, to fix the problem you need to understand what caused it.

Usually when you are installing a python script, like an addon into blender, for some reason, blender only supports adding the addon through the .zip file. When you do that, the addon works fine, and blender is able to parse the addon file properly and make it work how it should.

The self caused mistake is when you extract the .zip file and then try to install the content of the zip file directly into blender without going through the required method. The problem is that blender won't give any error that what you've done is incorrect, but when blender is initializing, it begins to confuse the .py file needed for initialization and controlling of the interface with your addon file's .py file. so it throws up errors and freeze the interface.

Now, to fix the problem, go back and trace every addon you have installed using the wrong method and delete the files.

If you do this, it should work just fine.

if it doesn't, just post a reply and lets see how else to help you.

Thanks.

I'm finding it hard to follow what problem is related to what here. I'd recommend submitting a fresh report focusing on only one problem at a time.

I am proffering a solution not a problem. his problem is that the interface is frozen, like mine did several months ago with no help.

i hope this clears your confusion out a bit.

thanks.

So is this error solved?

Import error: cannot import name 'mapping proxy type' from 'types' (users/Mac/library/applications support//blender/2.80/scripts/addons/types/init_.py)

And what about blender freezing during fluid sim? Which afaik was the original issue.

If either of those are still an issue, I'd recommend opening a new report. This could be re-opened but since it's quite a mess of at least 3 different problems, it'd be better to start fresh.

Oh the freezing from a fluid simulation was just a coincidence. I had installed the addon while working on the fluid simulation. but blender couldn't detect the problem till the time when i had to initialize blender again.

so my best guess is to discard the fluid simulation part since it wasn't a problem at all.

I had written that problem because i was in the dark as to why the freezing occurred. So i assumed it had something to do with what i was doing at the moment the problem occurred (fluid simulation) but in actual fact it was due to the addon i installed prior to that time.

This method solved the error for me

but whether it would solve the problem for @maftuh ikromullah (Maftuhart) is a different matter entirely.

So i suggest we hear from him to be sure its a workable solution.

I would suggest though, that blender find a way to discourage the possibility of installing addons in anyway else other than the method they require. Maybe disable the possibility or something. This way people won't run into problems they can't define like i did.

Even admins here couldn't help me. as you can notice from the threads above, So i had to read hundreds of articles online over a period of a week or so before realizing what mistake i had made. If i had not gone through the pain I'm not sure anyone here would still have figured it out by now and the problem may still be there.

Thank you @Demeter Dzadik

This thread describes problem i am running into the best.

Clicking in Viewport not working. Not for selection or movement. "A" shortcut to select all not working either. When i hover over many tools I am getting "Internal Error" Messages. Hiding of an object in the scene works trough clics on an EYE in Scene Collection, but selection in Scene Collection not working either. Clics with mouse and keyboard seems to be not be picked up.

Using
Beldner 2.8
Windows 10
GTX 1080 Ti

Thanks

That may actually be the problem. Because those folder ought not to be empty.

You need to look for where windows is pulling blender files on your PC. That's where they'll be.

Normally it should be in c:/ program files/ x86 or x64:/ blender 2.8/ scripts:/ addons.

Don't mind the way I wrote those though. I only meant them as a guide.

If you however can't find it. Then try restoring your addons to default.

But I'm certain you just installed an add-on the wrong way. Its the most likely thing that may be wrong with it.

You can give a detailed description of the things you did before getting this error responses from the app. That will further guide us as to how best to help you.

Thanks.

@Tomas I recommend you make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card and if that doesn't help, submit a fresh report through Blender's interface by going to Help->Report a Bug (this will autofill some info).

@blossomsg I recommend to first troubleshoot the problem as much as you can (delete stuff from your scene if you can, assuming it doesn't instantly freeze, until you find what causes the freeze) and then submit a fresh report and attach your file.

This report is closed, so it won't show up anywhere except for people who are already subscribed to this thread.

Another thing you could do adding to what @demeter dzadik said is to see if you can remember all the step you took to get to this level.

I've found repeatedly, that you can Mess around very quickly with blender and forget what you did to arrive at a certain glitch.

If you can identity all the actions you took between fresh install and this error state, try Posting it on this thread. (With attached picture of the error) That will make it a lot easier to help you troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks.
Looking forward to helping you.
