System Information
Operating system: Windows 7 64bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 / Driver: 342.00 Release date: 2016-10-27

Blender Version
2.80, Date: 2019-06-08, Hash: 81b68f7279, as found on the splash screen

Short description of error
Every object material turn black in the Lookdev display on EEVEE with a Quadro FX 5600 graphics card.
Screenshot: screen.png

When i use a Quadro FX 4800 with the same driver everything work correctly.
Those 2 graphics cards have a TESLA Architecture wich is normally supported by Blender 2.80.

Have you got an idea about this problem ?
Is this issue can be corrected ?

The driver version is much too old, install the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.

Hello M. Van Lommel,
Sorry for this late response.
finally I realized that I had made a mistake in the name of this task which in fact only concerns the EEVEE rendering engine.

It is the last official Nvidia driver that support the Quadro FX series graphics card (FX 4800 and FX 5600).
And with this driver EEVEE work correctly for the Quadro FX 4800.

With the Quadro FX 5600, the problem is du to the HDRI maps display on the viewport and only with EEVEE Engine.
but It work correctly with Cycles Engine and HDRI maps.

Quadro FX 5600 specs :

  • TESLA Architecture
  • OpenGL: 3.3
  • Shader model: 4.0
  • ...

This card meets the material requirements described on the page of the blender.org site :
Blender 2.8 Supported Graphics Cards

Supported Graphics Cards
•NVIDIA: GeForce 400 and newer, Quadro Tesla GPU architecture and newer, including RTX-based cards, with NVIDIA drivers (list of all GeForce and Quadro GPUs).

Is there a solution to solve this issue ?
It is perhaps a small error which could be resolved, finally I want to believe it !!!

Thanks for your reply

Cordially,

@kidasse I'm afraid that information is wrong, not all Quadro Tesla cards are supported. I'll correct the information.

We can't support graphics cards released in 2007, we don't have the time or hardware available to test them.

Hello M. Van Lommel,
Thank you for this information.
I will finally have to invest in newer hardware to be able to take advantage of the EEVEE rendering engine.
In any case I want to tell you that you all doing a fantastic job and therefore BLENDER is by far the most advanced and complete free software.
The very large community that supports it is proof of this and this success raises more and more interest as it becomes better over time.
Above all, you have greatly contributed to showing that open source software has a bright future.
A big thanks to all of you.
