Animated light size not updating in Cycles rendered view
Closed, ResolvedPublic

System Information
Operating system: Arch Linux
Graphics card: GTX Titan

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80.74 (9c5d54bfaf48)
Worked: 2.79.7

Short description of error

Given a point light with an animated size value the rendered view does not change w.r.t. shadow softness. After switching out and back into rendered view the shadow *is* rendered correctly.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Load the attached scene
  2. Switch to rendered Cycles view
  3. Play the animation.
  4. Note that the light size changes, but the shadow softness stays the same
  5. Go to frame 250, light size is maximum, shadow is very hard
  6. Switch to Solid view
  7. Switch to Rendered view
  8. Shadow is now very soft

Event Timeline

Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) triaged this task as Confirmed, Medium priority.

Can confirm this, same is true for Color and Power.

If you use nodes, the emission's Strength seems to update, whereas Color seems to fail here as well.

Actual render (CTRL+F12) goes fine...
