Blender 2.80beta - FBX import missing textures + deformed animations
Open, Needs Triage by DeveloperPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: Win10Pro (10.0.17134 Build 17134) 64 bit
Graphics card: NVIDIA Quadro K4200

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80beta, Hash 93f170390071 Date 2019.06.26 13.42
Worked: (optional)

  1. Imported FBX file from free ANIMA web site (rp_sophia_animated_003_idling.fbx),
  2. mesh model imports ok, but imports with model on side and needs rotating to stand vertical on correct axis,
  3. no textures import, even after setting correct paths,
  4. animation playback deforms the model and is different each time it is loaded,
  5. mesh model includes a number of armatures 'floating' off the model - appears the axis may be wrong for some?

Based on the default startup file then import the above fbx file.

I've managed to rectify the import of textures so this issue can be removed from my list.

Do you have an .fbx showing the problem?

Hello Stephen,

Dropbox link to the fbx files - https://www.dropbox.com/s/mu92mw122hfctcr/rp_sophia_animated_003_idling_FBX.zip?dl=0

I've also attached two screenshots showing the model deformation.

Thanks.

After rotating the mesh 90 degrees such that it aligns with the armature, the animations seem to work fine. Texture imports too.

So I think the only issue here is that rotation issue, which I've seen before in fbx imports sometimes, but it's a relatively small problem considering it is FBX. I don't think this needs information from user anymore, but I also doubt this will get fixed, since time would be better spent on USD support and deleting all memory of FBX from this corporeal realm. Let's wait for a dev to decide.

Also: In future please attach files directly here instead of linking to external sites. I uploaded that dropbox zip here:
