Thanks for the log. The output with the --debug or --debug-gpu options should have more information however.

Try to run blender_debug-gpu.cmd that is included in the download. After Blender closes, the logs will be in a text file which can be attached here.

Also make sure you have the latest version of the Intel driver installed: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics-Drivers

I can't find blender_debug-gpu.cmd, but I captured the full console output in this attached file:

console-output.txt

And here's the blender.crash.txt for this particular runthrough in case it's different:

blender.crash.txt

I seem to have the same problem on a different laptop (different model, same cpu/gpu and OS) and with the 32 bit version.

That Intel site doesn't have a linux driver for my gpu.

@fclem, any idea of what might be happening?
Apparently the crash occurs in the creation of some builtin shader.

The shader is gpu_shader_2D_nodelink_vert.glsl or gpu_shader_2D_nodelink_frag.glsl. But I would recommend searching for the latest driver for your gpu first as it seems to be a driver bug.

Can you provide your system-info.txt?

Still having the bug after this:
Updated to latest intel-microcode using Mint's Driver Manager
Updated to latest linux-firmware using Mint's Update Manager (and all other available updates)
Restarted the computer

(Intel's website says to get driver support from the OS vendor)

Hello Seth, try an update to Mint 18.3 with kernel 4.15.0-54

My other laptop with the same gpu, which was having the same bug, turns out to be running Mint 19. I installed all the updates and the bug stopped!
