System Information
Operating system: windows 8.1
Graphics card: integrated

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c0, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)

Blender Immediately closes (no crash report or anything) when I select lookdev in the eevee or cycles engine. It also sometimes crashes when I edit a material with nodes while using the eevee engine.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Hold z and select "lookdev"

Can you do Help->Save System Info and attach the created file?

If you can run blender from a command prompt window you can see if it produces any messages when it exits.

What "integrated" graphics does your system have (or what CPU model is it)? Is your Windows 32-bit or 64-bit?

Sorry about the lack of info.

I have an Intel i5-4210U CPU @ 1.7 GHz 2.4 GHz (quoted from my system info page), and 64 bit.

Honestly, as I searched around and saw no other problems like this, I think it is most likely a problem with my graphics rather then blender 2.8, but you are more than welcome to look into it, thanks so much!

So that should be Intel® HD Graphics 4400 / 4th gen Intel Core i5 / Haswell architecture which should be (just barely) officially supported in 2.80.

You might try updating to the latest Intel video driver, which sounds like it's probably the second one on this page: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/80939/Graphics-Drivers

Your .blend file looks suitably iridescent on my Nvidia 1060 here in the latest 2.80 with no issues.

hmm, Intel driver and support assistant claims my drivers are up to date, so is my processor just too old then?

The driver assistant does not always give the latest drivers, especially on Windows 7 and 8 or computers with OEM drivers.

10.18.10.3496 from your system info is from 2014, they are not the latest.
