Theme UI .xml file not saved to interface_theme directory #66729

System Information
Operating system: Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 64 Bits
Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 Intel 4.3.0 - Build 10.18.14.5067

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.80 (sub 74), branch: master, commit date: 2019-07-11 11:00, hash: d663048696
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
.xml file for newly created and saved UI theme does not appear in the "...scripts/presets/interface_theme" directory. When closing and then booting again, the previous theme is still applied but cannot find the .xml file.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. boot Blender 2.8 from Desktop
  2. modify theme UI settings under "Preferences"
  3. Click on "+" icon next to "Presets" and name theme
Result: custom theme preset and theme preset name are saved and still available from the presets list in theme editor when Blender is rebooted but no .xml file related to the theme can be found in interface_theme directory. So the saved theme works but there is no file for it (that I can find).

Also tried:

  1. First create new preset name by clicking on "+" next to "Presets" in UI theme editor and entering new name
  2. Modify theme settings
  3. Close and reboot
Result: When rebooted, theme preset name created in this way (I know this is not the right sequence) is still in the presets list (which is weird) but the modifications made (following this sequence) do not show. So the preset (name) is being saved but not the customisations when using this (wrong) sequence.

Potential bugs:

  1. Where is the .xml file being saved to for first (correct) sequence?
  2. Why does the name of a theme that is created before any modifications are made still appear in the presets list even if the settings modifications are not saved?

I could not reproduce the problem.
Are you sure you're looking at the correct directory?
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.80\scripts\presets\interface_theme\

It is probably a conflict with identical names in the different directories.
The image you showed shows a different directory than the one I showed.

I believe that this is not a bug, but a user support which is not the scope of the bug tracker.
