Blender 2.8 autosave doesn't clean up after itself

In Blender 2.8 on Windows, autosave feature tends to generate significant amounts of unique .blend files in user's temp folder, which are not getting cleaned up and are accumulating in size. Just 2 days of using Blender has generated 1.2GB of data in my temp folder:

This can cause issues on relatively small SSD drives used for system installations only, as well as offloading annoying duty of manual clean up to the user.

I would not really consider this a bug. Deleting autosaved files can also be a bad thing in some circumstances. Nevertheless we could have more options for users to define the behavior.
This would be a feature request though, so I'm closing this here in the bug tracker.
