System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: Geforce 1070

Blender Version
Broken: 2.80 release candidate
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Can't apply materials or remove materials from multiple objects simultaneously.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error.
Create multiple objects.
Shift click to select them all.
In the right hand pane, pick the material tab.
Create a new material by clicking the "New" button. (or pick an existing material, if one exists)

The material is only applied to the last object selected during the shift-click multi-select.

Expected: The material is applied to all selected objects.

Removing materials behaves similarly - Only the last object that was shift clicked has the material removed.
