MIssing shortcuts make testing quite difficult. #67850

Just thought I'd add my two penneth.

I'm trying to test 2.8, but there are so many missing keyboard shortcuts I'm spending 95% of my time googling for answers and getting nothing done or tested. Even if you're going to introduce new ways to do things I think the shortcuts should be there.

One thing I hate, double clicking A to deselect everything. Why? It doesn't change how anything works, just makes it more difficult.

System Information
Operating system:
Graphics card:

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c0, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Don't post a bugreport to complain about new keymap configuration. You have plenty of other options.

There was a special task #55162 where you could have post a comment.
You can also open a thread on devtalk.blender.org forum inside User Feedback section.
You can discuss about UI threads on support forums.

You are not forced to discover blender2.8 with new default keymap. You can use a Blender 2.7x keymap that is provided with 2.80RC.
Shortcuts can be customized as in 2.7x. You don't like dbl-A shortcut. You just have to disable it, recreate same shortcut as in 2.79 for (De)Select All operator, save your preferences and problem will dissappear .

Here is a picture to show you where in the preferences you can select the 2.7X keymap if you prefer to use it instead of the 2.8 keymap{F7634294}.

If you would simply like to have a single press of A deselect everything, all you have to do is check the "Select All Toggles" box as seen here. a_double_tap.jpg

I would suggest testing RC3 instead of a beta version from November.
