Work in lookdev and EEVEE, not in cycles.
Only run rendered, and see the result. It's like a "margin" effect...
Switch to lookdev and see the difference :)
It's a bug or a limitation?
THANKS

Please follow our submission template and guidelines and make a complete, valid bug report, with required info, precise description of the issue, precise steps to reproduce it, small and simple .blend and/or other files to do so if needed, etc.
A guideline for making a good bug report can be found here: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Process/Bug_Reports
Marking as "Incomplete" until the requested information/data is provided.
Hi sybren!
I sent you the .blend.
I sent you the step by step, and the print screen.
The problem is really simple, artifacts when use normal maps.
It makes no sense to make a more extensive post, because the problem is really simple.
You can see that the normal map creates bands on the edges.
This does not happen in eevee.
If you need specific information please tell me and I will give it to you.
In this case it seems to me a very obvious mistake.
You didn't follow the bug reporting template, and you didn't specify the exact Blender version you're using (2.8 doesn't exist, you probably mean 2.80 release, or any of its release candidates, or any of the many available daily builds).
It would be a lot clearer if we had a side-by-side comparison of what things look like in EEVEE vs. Cycles, and which one you think is correct. To me the screenshots you show look just fine.
This problem comes from version 2.79, to the present.
My version
(2, 80, 75)
I am now with Ubuntu, but I tried it on Windows machines.
Please tell me if you need something more!
THANKS
it works the same as EEVEE.

I can confirm the difference between Cycles and EEVEE with 2.80 Release and current master (
03f652b2c1
). I don't know whether this is by design or not -- they are two different renderers, and can do different things.Exactly Sybren!
However, the result of cycles differs with all other render engines.
It may be the cycles way, but it is extremely visible.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
