PC Crash while switching to Cycles GPU CUDA Blender 2.8 #67962

Graphics card: GTX 1050 ti

Short description of error

Blender crashes, the PC freezes and restart.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I got a sphere on scene with a couple of large textures of earth (day and night) using Eevee or Cycles with CPU it works well, but, if i switch the render to GPU the error happens, 3 times until now, i will try to reduce textures but, i can render the same scene in other softwares. I noted blender is using 6 GB of RAM with this scene.

UPDATE: It seems to be related to Graphic Drivers, i just update the drivers and it's now working, It's strange because i was building the scene early in the morning (i'm switching to blender from C4d) with the RC3 and everything was fine.

I need to open again the task, It was working fine a couple of hours with the graphics driver update, then i switch to Eevee to check something and when i back to Cycles GPU the PC crash again, i don't have any other problem in the PC, all other sofware is working fine.

New update, I lower my textures resolution to 8k now it work, i think it is still a bug because some times i can work with larger textures and sometimes not.

Got same issue, but testing with basic scenes. I can work days without any problems with 2.49 or other softwares but as soon as I hit render GPU I got the same issue : total freeze of the PC, and I have to reboot it in the hard way.

This sounds like you are simply running out of memory on your GPU.

Unless you can prove otherwise I will close this in the mean time.

That's what i thought so, but then, why some times it works and sometimes don't? doing exactly the same thing with no others programs running, and it's a big problem if the PC goes trough a freeze, a blue screen, and restart, i mean, i can do the same thing in other softwares with the same textures, so it may be related with how blender handles memory usage.

Of course, i can live with less resolution but it's a little bit disappointing conssidering the power the software has in many areas.

Although anyway i don't expect too much from a free software, anyway i feel grateful to be able to use this in a free and legal way.
