Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Please open attached "BoneSelectionProblem.blend" below.

You can select hand bone by clicking inside blue annotation. But the bone cannot be selected by clicking inside red annotation. (Don't move or rotate camera when you try this after opened the file)

This has to do with the armature object having it maximum drawtype (Display As) set to Wire.
For me everything is good if Display As is set to Solid.

  • A bit confused why we actually draw the armature as X-Ray if it is set to Wire?
  • that being said, having the armature set to Solid and then enabling X-Ray in the viewport exposes the same issue...

I havent followed to bone/armature selection issues much, but @Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) or @Jeroen Bakker (jbakker) might know more?

Went over bone selection reports again and this is actually the same as T67208 (whoes task description I have updated).
Will merge these reports, lets see if the devs think there is room for improvement here
