Short description of error
Textures in compositor are not presented in properties window:

I think, side bar (N-panel) is better place to store texture settings (like it is already done for mapping settings in shader editor

Shader editor has texture settings, compositor - does not.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Add texture node to compositor.
  • Try to change texture settings without using brash settings - it's impossible at the moment

Michael Soluyanov (crantisz) renamed this task from Textures in compositor are not presented in properties window to Textures in compositor are not presented in properties window and sidebar.Aug 6 2019, 9:45 AM
Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) lowered the priority of this task from 90 to 80.

Could not really tell if this is about Image nodes or Texture nodes, but answering on both:

Image node

I might be misunderstanding, but if we are solely talking about the Texture Mapping properties seen in the shader editor, then I would question why/how the Texture Mapping would show for a Compositing Image node?
(these dont have a texture mapping associated with them...)

  • node_shader_init_tex_image does BKE_texture_mapping_default
  • node_composit_init_image doesnt...

In my understanding, Image transforms in the compositor are to be with the Transform node?

Texture node

If we are talking about procedural Textures [I think this report is more about these], then yes, that workflow is not great...

@William Reynish (billreynish): Do you have a vision on how to improve this? Sounds more like a feature request or TODO rather than a bug though...

if we keep this as TODO, not even sure which module to put this on [compositor seems a bit orphaned?]
T63745: Sculpt, Paint, Texture Module?
T63726: User Interface Module ?

Closing this, because this isn't bug report. Even as usability issue, this report is hard to understand and unclear.
