Mirrored Hair Particles has inverted normals for particle hairs #68548

Operating system: Win 7
Graphics card: NVidia GeForce GTX 980
Blender Version Broken: 2.80.75

Short description of error:
When hair particles system is mirrored, mirrored hair particles' normals are flipped. As far as i know i can't flip them without causing distortion to particles.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error:
Crate a particle system and mirror it, this problem is not obvious at all viewport but eevee especially effected with it. Eevee shows them black and shows them normal at weird angles.

Apperently hair should be Strip in eevee engine settings.

@fclem, @brecht: I assume this is more or less expected behavior? (flipped hair normals on negatively scaled hair emitters)

For a workaround, you can:

  • Disconnect Hair [on both Hair objects]
  • Apply Scale [on both Hair objects]
  • Connect Hair [on both Hair objects]
  • account for the new scaling in Particle Settings > Hair Shape > Radius Scale [ in your case set it to 0.012(old radius) * 0.487511(old emitter scale) = 0.00585)
