Can't reproduce the bug, could you please add detailed steps to reproduce the error?

  1. Add monkey grease pencil
  2. (Shift + Alt + Z) to hide overlays

3.(Z + 8) to render in viewport

Result: the monkey grease pencil disappears.

forget to say that it is Cycles render not Eevee render

Yes, I can reproduce it with Cycles.

@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) do you know why? if you enable the Overlays in the icon and disable again works. The problem is only the first time you change to render mode when the overlays are off.

To reproduce:

  1. Set Cycles.
  2. Add GP Monkey.
  3. Disable Overlays.
  4. Set Render Mode.
  5. GP Monkey dissappears.

Now, if you enable Overlays and disable again, all works as expected.
