Blender Version
Broken 2.81 new feature of origon

snaping rotation origon bug - can't set correct origon rotation for simple object

rotation snaping of origon is tha same important as moveing origon to spec place

I need to specyfy Z direction also x and y direction. To working with this propably I need to have 2 directions snaping z and x or z and y to work with this.
so for example Z with snaping and then hold shift seting Y snaping...

This will help with orientation objects in space by orientation of another objects like aligment rotation object to another object ect.

Thanks for great work.

This is not tied to the new origin only feature, same is true if you rotate a "regular" object while snapping.

From quick glance at code, seems Align Rotation to Target is not really meant for rotating?
(It seems to work without issues when moving, then objects as well as origins would line up to the normal correctly)

Now blender obviously applies some rotation values here when rotating while snapping (without looking further, I am unsure what these actually are, would need further investigation)
Looks like without Align Rotation to Target this is just snapping the screenbased rotation in place (helper line snaps), with Align Rotation to Target ON this clearly makes a difference (but without looking further, I am unsure what this difference actually is, would need further investigation as well)
Looks like 2.79 behaves exactly the same here...

That all being said, I am unsure from quick glance if this is a really bug, the feature would certainly be handy...

regarding the UP axis thingie mentioned here, I would not consider this a bug...

regardless is a bug or not... this feature is needed and for now is like useless. " Align rotation to target" is for snapping object to another object plane with normal direction.

@WWS3D : like I said, just not sure if this is meant for rotation (works fine when moving)...

Note that this doesn't seem spesific to origin transformation, it happens for empties too.

Each time rotation starts it snaps to a different rotation.

Closing this report, but noting it as something to investigate improving.
