System Information
Operating system: Windows 10 Home
Graphics card: Nvidia 1060 6GB

Blender Version
2.80 (sub 43), branch: blender2.7

Short description of error
Bendy Bones lose custom handle associations when copied and pasted.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

If you create a bendy bone and assign an object or bone as either the associated start or end curve, then copy the armature the bendy bone will lose the association with the custom curve object.

Not sure if I understand correctly:

  • are we talking about custom Start Handle / End Handle? (dont know what is meant by custom curve object...)
  • this seems to be working fine here (both 2.80 and master), see
    #69228.blend

(if I copy the Armature, the relations are intact...)

This might be a misunderstanding (if so, please share your .blend file that shows the issue well...)

Thanks for your response!

Yes you are correct its the custom start and end handle. I opened your file and got the bones to copy with their relations just fine. I even got your file to copy into the project I'm working on and it still kept its relations. My armature is still not copying correctly though. I added the character with bendy bone legs into your file and he lost his bendy leg bone handles, but I remapped them to test and he still lost the association. I've attached the file. Take a look, if it's just my version and I need to upgrade I will.

I can copy your armature/whole character into a new file without any issue here. You seem to be using a very old version of Blender 2.80 though, 2.80.43 is from 02/2019 or so… Indeed, please update to the stable 2.80 release at the very least, 2.80 from early 2019 is anything but stable!

Ahh of course of course. For whatever reason I thought I had upgraded to the most recent version. I was wrong! I just upgraded to 2.8 proper and attempted the same copy/paste and had no issue with the bendy bones. The full version also seemed to make my use of the bendy bones more predictable and nice! I apologize for not simply confirming I have the latest version and thank you all very much for your support!
