Short description of error
Animation using the origin as pivot gives unpredictable result.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I made a video to demonstrate because there is many steps to reproduce, or you can get the provided .blend file.

  • Play the animation to see what you have. Try to remember it or save it.
  • Insert a key and check the transform affect only the origin from n-panel, move the timeline cursor to the next frame ( frame 60),
  • move the origin to different vertex, uncheck the transform affect only the origin from n-panel,
  • Rotate the object 90 degree on y-axis after the rotation insert keyframes again.
  • Play the animation again notice that you are not getting the same animation compare to the first one.

Animating the origin is not supported. What editing the origin does is move all the vertices in the mesh, it's not a property of the object.
