System Information
Operating system: Darwin-18.7.0-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Radeon pro 5500m
Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.81 (sub 11), branch: master, commit date: 2019-09-16 21:02, hash: 76650402f3
Worked: unknown

Short description of error
When you are in the view animation window and pause the animation with the spacebar, whenever you move the mouse cursor the image is flickering. This even happens to a lesser extent when the window is in the background and you move the mouse cursor over the foreground window.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
With any animation rendered: click render -> view animation. Move mouse cursor around over the window.

Cannot reproduce here (linux, 970m, 435.21 drivers).

  • I assume GPU drivers are up-to-date?
  • Maybe sharing a screencast of this helps confirming?

GPU drivers for the intel graphics are part of MacOS, which is fully up-to-date. I added a short screen recording. The effect is a bit less than earlier when I reported it, but otherwise still similar. When the animation is playing, it does not happen, only when paused.

At the end of the video my mouse cursor is moving at a different part of the screen btw and then it also happens.

Reproduced with the same results on a different MacBook with radeon pro 5500M graphics enabled on 2.82 2019-12-06.

Could not reproduce this either, so I guess this is indeed macOS only.

On my Hackintosh (AMD Ryzen 5 + Radeon RX 480) it is working fine with Blender 2.82. But on my MacBook (Pro (Mid 2012), 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB) its reproducible. (see video attached)

Actually this is on a different Mac than when I first reported the bug and interestingly it now happens only when the GPU (radeon pro 5500m) is active. When I force use of the integrated intel UHD, there is no flickering. I don't own the other machine anymore, so I can't test on that.

It is still reproducible on MacBook with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and Blender 2.91/2.92. But on 2.92 the flickering became less.
