Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Add Dynamic Paint (Canvas) to any mesh and try to set 0 as a start frame of simulation.

[I know this might not be a lot of steps to reproduce, but this ensures we are all on the same page -- might very well be that multiple devs are looking at the problem...]
Also would be good to know how you are checking this [like what are we expecting to see with startframe 0 compared to startframe 1] -- because dynamic paint preview is broken atm, no?

Dont think the fact that simulation start will only allow for frame one and above is a bug really?
Same is true for all caches [rigid bodies, hair dynamics, ..].
Havent checked if (4.) goes away if you update your scene to work from frame 1 instead, but afraid we have to close this...
(feel free though to comment again if issues persist after updating your scene to work from frame 1 instead)
First problem (3.) is gone if start animation further in time (OK, can live with that). But problem (4.) is still here, please look at it closer, blend file is updated.
