**Steps :

  1. open the linked file
  2. read the instructions in viewport and use boolean to see by yourself ("shift ctrl +" or "shift ctrl -" with booltool enabled, or use a boolean modifier)

Objects that are already placed in a overlapped manner, ready to get booled to see that it doesnt work, with the description over that explains you in which case it works / doesnt work.
Take any sphere or any cube and try to bool it with the overlapped mesh that it has on it.
