Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 435.21

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.81 (sub 14), branch: master, commit date: 2019-10-09 22:31, hash: rBf61a8a2abd07
Worked: 2.80 (Release)

Short description of error
Cloth simulations that are reimported in to Blender via Alembic seem to ignore the shading type. (Smooth/Flat)
This used to work in 2.80 and got broken somewhere along the way.

Possibly related to: T69182
However, here the vertex count is not changing.

In 2.80:

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
See attached blendfile or import the attached ABC files and change the shading to smooth/flat. - The shading will change correctly on the left cube but not on the right cube which has the cloth sim.

@Sybren A. Stüvel (sybren), can you confirm this problem?
Any idea what has changed between releases that may have introduced this issue?

This is probably a side-effect of D5191: Alembic: import & export face-varying normals. I guess this has always been an issue in the export, but now that we import correctly it's showing up. I'll have to investigate.
