Short description of error
Bump node ignoring smooth shading when generating normal map.

As you can see, this cube's map is faceted, but in shade smooth is active.
Naturally, after subdividing it, facets become smaller, but it's still not a smooth gradient, as expected:

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

Just open it and switch to Rendered or Lookdev

Did this work in earlier versions of Blender?

Did this work in earlier versions of Blender?

Yup, it works how expected in 2.79, but not in 2.80

Jacques Lucke (JacquesLucke) raised the priority of this task from Needs Information from User to Confirmed, Medium.

It is matching Cycles. Which does respect the shading normals. The facet effect is caused by the extreme case of a normal being distorted too much.

Note that Cycles does some normals correction so the colors does not match 1:1.
