Short description of error
area light behind panel you can see the point of the volumetric generation

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
open attached blend file i've attached an image and circled the issue

in addition is there anyway to have area lights not just have volumetrics at the center point? if it was generated from the whole panel of the area light that would be amazingly helpful in making it look more realistic

18,800 objects is hardly simplified.

Also your daily build is 3 weeks old.

However, I can confirm that I am able to reproduce with rB59b16e28d974

The 3 lights that should be occluded from view are visible once the volumetric view distance is set to 220' or further.

Here is the file with only the necessary objects.

I tested with today's 2.81 it was still broken, I already had the thread created and file uploaded but didn't hit submit.

My apologies on the large file i left the arena in there and such as i mostly deal with larger areas and didn't know if that would cause issues and i did see it in other areas when moving around just that was the easiest one to find.

Also you guys are awesome with the speedy feedback :) is the area lights generating from a point something or just a current short coming off Eevee?
