Rotating the view with trackpad reversed from rotating with the gizmo, not configurable.
Open, Needs Triage by DeveloperPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: macOS

Blender Version
Broken: 2.8

Short description of error

The direction of view rotation direction with two-finger scroll gestures is opposite of the rotation when clicking and dragging on the rotation Gizmo.

This is the rotation Gizmo:

Rotation direction with that Gizmo is opposite of two-finger scroll-gesture-based rotation.

This is inconsistent and confusing.

How can we fix this without changing OS settings? I don't want to change my OS natural scroll setting.

Ah, I see the "Natural Trackpad Direction" option under Navigation > Orbit & Pan > Orbit Method. This is a lot better!

Sorry, I couldn't figure out what to Google to find this setting, but I finally stumbled on it.

It is still not equivalent to the rotation Gizmo. Is there any way to make both of those equivalent? Is there some way to configure the Gizmo?

I think it'd be great if both controls start with the same rotation functionality out of the the box. This would be more intuitive.

Although not ideal, this feature works as designed, and developers here are only assigned to confirmed bugs.
But anyone can propose a patch for review indicating the desired change.
