Short description of error

When I load the .blend file the scene is set to "Smash": I can render, etc, while in this scene.  When I try to switch to the other scene in this file, "Standard Layout", blender immediately crashes.
"Smash" was originally copied from "Standard Layout".   

When the file is opened the bowling ball is selected and it is in edit mode.  I found that if I press "TAB" to take it out of edit mode, I can then change scenes without crashing.

You ask for a small and simple .blend file.  I think this one qualifies :-)
