Sculpt mode wireframe not redrawing

Short description of error
Under certain circumstances(I found it when playing around with modifiers in sculpt mode), blender fails to redraw the wireframe while in sculpt mode. Making a modification to part of the mesh causes that part of the mesh to draw in wireframe.

Raising the remesh modifiers iterations to a high number also causes the wireframe to vanish though only in sculpt mode.

The wireframe is invisible in all modes except edit mode of the 3D viewport where it is visible, and appears to draw correctly, though it appears to move as if the edit mode uses a completely different view matrix, or perhaps totally different drawing logic than the other modes (which probably accounts for it being drawn successfully).

Confirmed. Steps to reproduce:

  • Add a Cube
  • Add a subsurf modifier and subdivide 4 times
  • Apply the modifier
  • Add a subsurf modifier and subdivide 2 times
  • Enter sculpt mode without applying the modifier
  • Enable wireframe mode
  • Disable overlays
