Graphics card: GeForce GTX 970M/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 440.31

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.82 (sub 6), branch: master, commit date: 2019-12-19 09:05, hash: rB076cedc777bd
Worked: rB9516921c05b^

Short description of error
The Show Cone dimensions are much smaller than before. This is an additional report to T72574

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Open file, observe this issues:
  • compared to 2.81a the cone/light outline size is drawn smaller/shorter than before -- I know the light can be scaled to compensate, but prior default seemed to make more sense?

So this degraded in multiple steps:

  • 2.81a still good
  • rB9516921c05b would still draw the cone (but much smaller/shorter than before)

Event Timeline

Bastien Montagne (mont29) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Bug".Tue, Jan 14, 2:54 PM

This is because cones were previously using the shadow end clip distance to draw. But now it has been removed. I guess we could just make them as big as old default.

I am using cone to see in workbench clearly, what will be touched with light. It makes esier to aim spotlight. So yes, please, big and scalable cone as old one.
