Ctrl-Z didn't work in Weight Paint Mode
[Please fill out a short description of the error here]

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Open mesh in Edit Mode (vertex)
  2. Go to Object Mode
  3. Open Weight Paint Mode
  4. Start painting weights. Made few changes.
  5. Use shortcut Ctrl-Z.
  6. It backs you to Edit Mode, instead of undo last weight paint.

Cannot reproduce, could you share your .blend file?

Also:

  • does this happen with the default cube?
  • does this still happen whith Factory defaults? (Go to File → Defaults → Load Factory Settings and then load your file to see if you still can reproduce this issue)

Sorry, i can't upload scene where i found this bug.
But I managed to repeat it on cube (add scene).

  1. Create a cube.
  2. Add armature bone
  3. Select Armature + cube. Ctrl+P Add (With Automatic Weights)
  4. Got to EditMode
  5. Go to WeightPaint mode and draw weights.
  6. Ctrl-Z

Hm, still cannot reproduce.

What I noticed though is that you have the armature first in your selection, then the cube.
That results in you actually parenting the armature to the cube [with no armature modifier on the cube then, automatic weights also not really taking place...]
(find a bit distracting that this is actually always in the menu now @WilliamReynish -- if you use Ctrl+P this is bit more sensitive to the selection order and wont let you do that, but that is a bit of a different story...)

Anyways, could you try if the reported issue about Ctrl+Z actually happens when you first select the cube, then select the armature, and go on from there?

Since 2.83 has been released, please check that as well if 2.82 is still buggy.
