Short description of error
I suppose it is a bug, because , box selection + x-ray have differend behavior in edit mode.
Please check. Bug or flaw?

Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Known Issue".

The original code was made to work that way.
Pre 2.80 versions did not have this X-ray option in Vertex Paint Mode.
To support this feature, the work will be engaging, the drawing will have to have the face dots (as in the edit mode) and some of the functions that only work in the edit mode will have to be adapted to work in another mode.

I will mark this report as a Known Issue.

Okay, it is more like TO DO, but yes, ability to select through is important for fast fill.
Now user should go edit mode and back to get such selection.
