Armature Inherit Scale not working from Toggle Bone Options or Bone Settings #73420

Short description of error
The Inherit Scale option returns the following error when selected from the Toggle Bone Options or the Armature > Bone Options menu:

Non boolean value found: selected_bones- [ ].inherit_scale

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Add an armature
  2. Switch to Edit mode and extrude a second bone
  3. With the child bone selected, click on Inherit Scale in the Armature > Bone Settings menu. Alternatively, press press Shift W to select it from the Toggle Bone Options context menu.
  4. Inherit Scale status does not change.

There are plenty of options now for Inherit Scale in Bone Properties > Relations, not just true or false, which might be the cause of the function not working properly from the viewport switches.

With the latest Blender 2.83 there is no "Inherit Scale" option in the Bone Settings menu:

This has been fixed (by removing the menu option altogether) in c10e05ceb8.

Why was this removed? Is there another feature to replace being able to apply inherit scale changes to all selected bones?

@DevinR It was removed because it didn't work, and because there is a different way to do exactly the same thing. In the bone properties panel, right-click on the "Inherit Scale" select box and choose "Copy to Selected". Alternatively, change the value while keeping {key Alt} depressed, and it'll change for all selected bones simultaneously.
