Sculpt Changes with Dyntopo Enabled Don't Save
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG

Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 Intel 4.5.0 - Build 26.20.100.7262

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.83 (sub 5), branch: master, commit date: 2020-03-02 23:59, hash: rBfe7c4fb4a2d5
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Changes aren't saved when using Dyntopo. If I make a change to a sculpt with dyntopo enabled, and then save the file, the change isn't saved. If I disable dyntopo, modify using a sculpt tool, and save the file, the changes are saved.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
No blend file is necessary.

  1. File>New>Sculpting
  2. Enable Dyntopo
  3. Make a stroke on the surface with any brush.
  4. Save the file
  5. File>Revert (Changes are gone and only the unaltered sphere is there)

Repeat the same process skipping step 2 and the changes are retained in the save file.

Though, I've been using blender for 5 or 6 years, I'm new to sculpting, so I'm not sure when this issue started, or if it's an issue inherent in working with dyntopo.

Jacques Lucke (JacquesLucke) changed the subtype of this task from "Report" to "Bug".

I can reproduce the issue.

Unfortunately, there seem to be some memory errors that make it much harder to debug this because it is crashing all the time with ASAN. Will check if I can find the reason.
