Short description of error
Adaptive sampling does not work with ray-based shading nodes beyond a certain value (32K for the AO color node).

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the .blend file and render with the current settings, no crash. Set the AO samples to 5 for each AA pass and a crash will occur once a tile completes.

This is confirmed when GPU rendering (whether GPU only or hybrid). CPU only rendering does not seem to be affected.

I use CPU rendering (AMD Ryzen 2700X) so this is definitely not a GPU only bug.

Maybe it's another one of those Windows only things?
