Short description of error
When you re-render an animation to an ffmpeg file, it overwrites existing file even when you have "overwrite" deselected

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
render an animation to an ffmpeg file

  • file is created
    deselect "overwrite"
    rerender

  • new file overwrites old file

If you select FFMpeg video the Overwrite option is disabled. This is shown as a greyed out property in the output panel indicating that this option isn't relevant.
I couldn't find the clarification in the manual indicating this.

Note that the overwrite option is implemented for image files to continue rendering where it stopped. See https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/output/animation.html#hints

Okay, note that I was still able to deselect the Overwrite options after I selected FFMpeg video. Could I suggest two options instead of overriding one in a non-intuitive way? "Overwrite" and "Continue from last" or something like that?

Agree this could be improved, but it is not considered a bug (since it is already hinted at by disabling / greying out).
