System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 441.87

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.82 (sub 7), branch: master, commit date: 2020-02-12 16:20, hash: 77d23b0bd7
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
When opening image texture file, File Browser window pops up allowing users to select multiple files holding shift key, but only one file is opened.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Create Image Texture node in shader editor
  2. Click the folder icon to load the image file
  3. Navigate to folder containing multiple files and select more than one file by holding down shift key
  4. Click open
Result: Only one file is opened despite multiple being selected
Expected: Either allow selection of only single file, or open multiple files by creating multiple image texture node

You can select muliple files in order to have this turn to an Image Sequence in the node.
If this is the case (a sequence - valid naming scheme - is selected and you have the Detect Sequences option turned on), the Image Texture node will switch from Single Image to Image Sequence.

Dont think it would be a good solution to create multiple Image Texture nodes when browsing for images in a single Image Texture node.

One thing that could be improved is that you cannot select multiple files if Detect Sequences is turned OFF (this would not be considered a bug though).

A workaround for quickly creating multiple Image Texture nodes is with the Node Wrangler Addon (this then has {key Shift A} > Texture > Multiple Images).

That all being said, will close as not-a-bug (feel free to comment though if you still think this is a bug...)

I am not really looking for workaround. While it may not be considered a bug by you, it's a really odd behavior that user is allowed to select multiple entities yet such selection has no effect. Also, isn't the point of "Detect Sequences" actually not having to select multiple files in order for it to work?
