System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 441.87

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.82 (sub 7), branch: master, commit date: 2020-02-12 16:20, hash: 77d23b0bd7
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Frame Selected property of Local View keymap entry is described as moving the view to frame selected objects when activating Local View, but has side effect of modifying the viewport view angle and location by reverting it back to a location before the Local View was entered. This can often be confusing. The Frame Selected property fails to communicate this effect to user resulting in user not knowing that the change of viewport view location when exiting Local View can be affected by this setting.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. In scene with multiple object, select one and enter Local View using a hotkey
  2. Move the viewport view around
  3. Exit the local view and notice view angle and location has changed
  4. Got to keymap editor, search for Local View keymap entry, and uncheck "Frame Selected"
  5. Repeat steps 1-3 and notice view angle and location no longer changes when exiting Local View
Result: Frame Selected name and tooltip fails to communicate actual functionality/side effects of this property
Expected: Frame Selected name and tooltips should either be changed to better reflect the functinality, or the side effect of view location and angle change when exiting local view should be removed.

I don't think I'm wrong. The description does exactly what it says. Moves the view (modifying the viewport view angle and location) to make the selected objects visible within the viewport's boundaries (ie frame the selected objects).
So I don't consider this a mistake. Even less a bug. But a request for improvement.

Have you actually read the report? The framing of the object at the start of entering local view is expected, but changing the view when exiting is not. The description and naming is clearly wrong here.

I don't think the fact that the description does not inform that contextual views have a particular 3D View qualifies this as an error or a bug.
The manual could also be a little bit clearer:
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/editors/3dview/navigate/views.html#contextual-views

But for the reasons described here (Not_a_bug ), we need to define well what is a bug and what is an improvement request.

@dfelinto, what do you think? Should this be considered a bug?
