System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 442.50

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.83 (sub 11), branch: master, commit date: 2020-04-02 20:05, hash: c4ba0d1508
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
When going into Show Overlays and toggling off Face Sets visibility with MultiRes, the sets remain visible. Also, mesh visibility when hiding face sets on the 0 subdivs model does not show the same results on the higher subdivs.
Desktop 2020.04.03 - 01.31.36.02.mp4

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Take the default cube and go into Sculpt Mode.
  2. Create face sets by normals in the Face Sets menu and start toggling on and off Face Sets in Show Overlays.
  3. Add MultiRes and subdivide once and repeat the toggling on and off.
  4. Also try to hide isolate a face set before subdividing. All the face sets should still be visible.
  5. Disabling MultiRes will show you the originally isolated face set before subdividing.

or

  1. Open attached file
  2. Toggle on MultiRes visibilty
See how the isolated face set doesn't appear in MultiRes, which is displaying the entire mesh.

@mano-wii Broken MultiRes+Face Sets.blend

Just toggle on MultiRes visibilty and see how the isolated face set doesn't appear in MultiRes, which is displaying the entire mesh. I also disabled face sets visibility in Show Overlays next to the toggle mask visibilty option. The face set colours should be gone with MultiRes disabled and show when MultiRes is activated.
