System Information
Operating system: Darwin-16.7.0-x86_64-i386-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 OpenGL Engine NVIDIA Corporation 4.1 NVIDIA-10.18.5 378.05.05.25f16

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.82 (sub 7), branch: master, commit date: 2020-03-12 05:06, hash: 375c7dc4ca
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Not a bug but an inconsistence in UI design. For modifiers, you have icons for rendering then viewport display. For particles, these icons are inverted. Viewport display then render. I keep going back and forth between them and I screwed up a few times because of this. Also, the buttons highlight for modifiers but not for particles. I think highlighting helps visibility. Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
[Please describe the exact steps needed to reproduce the issue]
[Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible)]

Make an object, add a modifier and a particle system, you'll see.

This has been fixed in experimental builds. you can get at https://builder.blender.org

Since we must not change icons in the outliner as it's quite logical to have them from left to right (eye -> monitor -> camera) may be we should stick to this concept in the rest of the UI?
I propose to reorder modifiers buttons completely 1 2 3 4 -> 4 3 2 1. That will be On cage -> Edit mode -> Real time -> Render. Then reorder icons in the particles settings back to Real time -> Render. That will be the most consistent and logical. Render is the last operation, so it belongs to the right.
