[UI Bug] Help top toolbar Splash-Screen mising #76660

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.18362-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 445.87

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.82 (sub 7), branch: master, commit date: 2020-03-12 05:06, hash: 375c7dc4ca
Worked: (optional)

Short description of error
Looking for the Blender version number usually is placed in the Help section of the menu top bar. Help > SplashScreen.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • A Novice user using blender since version 2.1
  • In a Blender 2.82 already open
  • Search for the version number
  • Open Help in the menu top bar
  • Notice that the standard "about Blender" or "SplashScreen is missing"
expected: The user opens Help on the menu top bar and is expecting the standard "about Blender" to open the SplashScreen
actual: The user must think and look around searching where the "about Blender" was placed SplashScreen. If it did not find it must open a new Blender.

I suggest adding the SplashScreen option also into the Help top menu.

While I agree that this menu item is in an unexpected place, it is shown clearly in [the Blender 2.83 Manual ]]. I also concur that this item should be on the Help menu, along with [ https:*developer.blender.org/D7146 | an About page , but a desire to rearrange the menus is a feature request, not a bug report.

well its placed a bit hidden behind the white blender logo with a few handy features. Even if its not standard-like its quite charming^^.

The possibility of moving about into the help menu is noted, and something we've discussed changing.

Closing this this isn't an error/mistake in the code.
