Changing the “Pan View” Keybind works in Object Mode, Not Sculpt Mode #76836

Operating system: Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362

Graphics card: RTX 2080Ti

Blender Version: 2.82a

To reproduce:

  • Change the Pan View keybind from Shift+Middle Mouse to Shift+Left Mouse.
  • Open Sculpt Mode and try Panning the View, it won't work. Panning the view will work in Object mode, but NOT Sculpt Mode.
    Some Notes:
  • Right Mouse won't work either in sculpt mode, Middle Mouse is the only mouse button blender will accept to pan the camera in Sculpt Mode.
  • Alt + Left Mouse will always Rotate view no matter what you do. There is no way to disable this. It's not in the Keymap settings.
  • Checking "Emulate 3 Button Mouse" in input settings will let the Pan View and Zoom view work in Sculpt Mode, but its not ideal, I am forced to use the key bind that I don't want. Having to press 3 key combinations to do one action is annoying.
Why I would want to change the binding to left mouse:
I just want to be able to control my camera completely with 1 keyboard modifier + left mouse button for each camera control (Rotate, Pan, Zoom). That's not possible in Sculpt mode in Blender. I am just trying to setup sculpting for my iPad using the apple pencil using an App that treats the iPad as another Windows display. Apple pencil doesn't use middle mouse or right mouse, only left mouse. This bug I'm reporting is not caused by the App or iPad in any way because it's happening even when I'm only using mouse and keyboard on Windows. I checked.

By default, Shift calls the Smooth brush in sculpt mode... So if you want to pan the view using Shift, then you'll have to change the Smooth brush hotkey to something else....
No bug here...

Just give me the benefit of the doubt here please.

Keymap > 3D View > Pan View
Okay, so lets change the key modifier to something like F5, which should be open. Nothing else uses F5 right?

F5 + Left Mouse set to Pan View. Works in Object Mode, not Sculpt Mode.

Any key on the keyboard + Left Mouse will not work in sculpt mode.
