When calling the Save dialogue with Ctrl+S, the user has to wait for almost one second for the dialogue to appear and be functional.
Further, the file name field seems to appear with a delay, causing the interface to adjust - creating visual noise.

I do notice a slight delay here (also Darwin-19.4.0), but I would have never noticed it if I didn't pay attention. This doesn't happen merely to the file browser, but also to any other opened windows, e.g. Preferences or new main windows.
There doesn't seem to be a delay with 2.82. Didn't test 2.83.
Off hand I can't think of any change that could have caused this. Probably it's macOS-only too, although that's to be confirmed.

Tagging as bug since this worked in 2.82.

Actually, I have a suspect: rB6c4ef6159cf9. It changes how the screen-layout is initialized and adds additional OS queries to determine the usable window size.
