The Nvidia Quadro NVS 450 and its old drivers are likely the issue. While Quadro cards with Tesla architecture are supposed to be supported, according to the [minimum requirements ]], but your GPU is considered legacy hardware by Nvidia. Therefore, the most recent driver is from 2016: [ https:*www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/110264/en-us | R340 U14 (342.00) .
Yes, this is the driver which is installed (WHQL)

I've the same issues and the same log file. Running with NVidia Geforce 310M with latest drivers (342.01).
@stefanoaq The Nvidia GeForce 310M is below the minimum requirements, see #77515.
Oh great... thanks Robert.
Well, Blender should notify the user about this, instead of a crash on startup.
@stefanoaq Blender does check if the hardware is capable of OpenGL 3.3 and refuses to start on certain devices/drivers that are known to cause issues. We might have to extend that list. Usually it's not Blender's fault for crashing on old GPUs, it is caused by bugs in the graphics driver. For the future, please create a separate bug report for your issue.
So why is Blender 2.83 crashing and version 2.82 isn't?
@pascalg It seems that there are currently more people having issues with older Quadro cards. I've informed the GPU team and they will try to investigate the issue. This may be difficult to diagnose because they likely don't have the hardware in question available for local tests.

@pascalg
I was mistaken the NVS 450 doesn't fulfill the minimum requirements. The NV4x series has the Curie architecture, while Tesla or later is required.The issue with the Quadro cards will be investigated, regardless. If a fix for the cards within the minimum requirements is available, it might solve your issue too. However, I'll have to close this ticket according to the tracker policy .Edit:
Don't trust Wikipedia, the NVS 450 has the Tesla architecture according to their referenced source .

Unfortunately, I have to correct myself again. The NVS 450 has only 512 MB of memory, which is below the minimum requirements .
Let me understand:
my NVidia Geforce 310M has 1GB ram (1024MB) and is OpenGL 3.3. Drivers are of 2016, so less than 10yo.
It should match the minimum requirements.
@stefanoaq My last two comments were about the original ticket, not your GPU. The Nvidia GeForce 310M also doesn't meet the minimum requirements, as explained by the link in my first reply to you. Based on your answer I thought that you've understood the reasoning. Since that is not the case, let me rephrase:
The [Nvidia GeForce 310M ]] predates the https:*en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_400_series which is the [ https://www.blender.org/download/requirements/ | minimum requirement for running Blender 2.8x with a GeForce GPU.
@rjg I guess I have to stay at 2.82 then :(
A lot of people will have. Unless they decide to extend to older cards.
I've a laptop and a pc, both with Opengl 3.3 cards, but useless for 2.83.
A good idea would be to disable not compatible Blender features.
@stefanoaq
The minimum requirements haven't changed since 2.80.The minimum requirements have increased with Blender 2.82. It's just that some hardware worked despite being below minimum requirements, but that's not a guarantee. There may be graphics glitches happening or even crashes, if there are bugs/quirks in the graphics driver. Since these older devices don't receive updates for the drivers anymore, the bugs are not getting fixed. In case of your GPU it has been released to the market 10 years ago and the last update for its driver was in 2016. Blender developers can try to implement workarounds, they can't perform miracles though. In the end a line has to be drawn somewhere to decide which hardware is supported and which isn't. As unfortunate as it is, the hardware requirements change over time and there will always be people whose GPU doesn't meet the requirements anymore.@pascalg Despite the very little memory your GPU has, patches for supported Quadro cards could potentially fix your issue as well. There is currently an open task #77657 that is causing issues for other Quadro cards. The caveat is that your hardware is still unsupported and there is no guarantee that it will work.
