System Information
Operating system: Kubuntu 18.04
Graphics card: Radeon R9 390
Blender Version
Broken: 2.83, 2.90
Worked: 2.82a
Short description of error
Cannot assign a second material to the same object as in previous 2.82a version.
The problem is that with 2.83 and later, if i try to use multiple material only the part with the first material is visible.
Here the default cube with only one material:
Here with a second material applied to one face:
This append when i click on assign button to apply the second material on the selected face.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
This or these face/faces becomes invisible both in viewport and the final render.

I cannot reproduce the problem. But I'm also not sure if I understood the problem correctly.
Here is a guide that helps you solve graphic problems:
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/dev/troubleshooting/gpu/index.html
i'm using standard drivers included with the distribution.
Up to the 2.82a all works as expected. With the 2.83.0, but i tried with the last 2.9 experimental, i have the same issue.

Does that happen only in material/rendered shading mode? Can you attach your
system-info.txt
here?Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Needs User Info'
sorry for the late reply, here my system-info.txt as requested and yes, this happen only in material/rendered shading mode.
Face is still selectable but invisible.

@fclem: If it is a bug, it should be confirmed? If it is not confirmed, it should probably still be a report (possibly set to Needs Developer To Reproduce)?
Changed status from 'Needs Triage' to: 'Needs User Info'
Mesa is at 20.2.2 now [your system-info is at 19.2.8 - which is almost a year old].
Just to make sure:
