Short description of error
While in texture mode users press S to activate a color picker (not sure why this isnt the GUI nor the tools palette?)
When its active, we have the options menu (used to be F6 i believe) There is this option "Add to Palette".
This however always adds colors. When you uncheck it, it will enable itself the next time your use the S key and pick a color.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
01. Open the attached scene.
02. Start texture paint mode
03. Use S key to enable color picker
04. Options menu (bottom left) shows "Add option to palette" > Deactivate it.
05. Use S key again > Notice colors are still being added but option is unchecked.
06. When you let go of the S key, its checked again

not sure why this isnt the GUI nor the tools palette?

good question, nice thing to add once...

This however always adds colors

This gets checked (and thus adds to the palette) when you use LMB (in contrast to just holding S without mouse click - which samples but doesnt add to the palette)
The status bar will tell you about the usage:

Sample color for Brush. Use Left Click to sample for palette instead

However, this option is not working well with redo:

  • if you uncheck after having used S in conjunction with LMB it will not remove from the palette again [which it should]

So just to make sure:
If you just use S (without LMB): does it also add to your palette?

This gets checked (and thus adds to the palette) when you use (in contrast to just holding without mouse click - which samples but doesnt add to the palette)
The status bar will tell you about the usage:

Ahh yeah holding S key starts picking color immediatly already. Though the help test could be more clearer that its actually ADDING that color.

However, this option is not working well with redo:
if you uncheck after having used in conjunction with it will not remove from the palette again [which it should]

Still i don't understand that checkbox "Add to palette". If its checked and you dont hold S it doesnt add, The checkbox doesnt seem to have any influence since the picker is actived by a hotkey. When its unchecked and you hold S it still adds. So perhaps that option menu checkbox isnt working properly? However i noticed if i use S once and then keep checking and unchecking the that checkbox option it keeps adding the color over and over again. But it does not do the first time when its checked. You need to uncheck it and than check it again before it adds without using LMB in this case. Kinda weird

History is indeed not working properly in this case. I believe it should with all work done on the history and undo lately.
