"Control key" in Linux UBUNTU does not work well in "Blender" when "Pointer Location" is activated with the program "Tweaks" of Ubuntu #79685

System Information
Operating system:
Graphics card:

Blender Version
Broken: (example: 2.80, edbf15d3c0, master, 2018-11-28, as found on the splash screen)
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Based on the default startup or an attached .blend file (as simple as possible).

Beware! There is a conflict with "Control key" in Linux UBUNTU in "Blender" when "Pointer Location" is activated with the program "Tweaks" of Ubuntu.

My solution: Desactivate "Pointer Location". But for the other users they can think of a bug in Blender when in fact it is "Pointer Location" in "Tweaks"

I'm not familier with this feature.

Can you explain what happens currently and how you expect it to behave?

Also, did this ever work? (Blender 2.79 for example).

It highlights the cursor. Rather than a ctrl press event, we get a window deactivated event, and only a release event afterwards. xev shows the same thing, so it's not Blender specific.

The only thing I noticed broken is the keymap display in the status bar. But regardless, I'm not sure there is anything in Blender we can do about this.

User:

When I use Blender 2.9 and I want to use the keys [Ctrl]+- [x], for instance, the key [Ctrl] does then not work properly any more in Blender, I can then no more activate it! I discovered that it was not because of a bug in Blender, but that it happened, but when I activated in the same time another program in de Ubuntu O.S., namely the software named "Tweaks", which has a function in it under the menu "Keyboard & Mouse" called "Pointer Location (Press the Ctrl key to highlight the pointer)'. Funnily , when the key [Ctrl] is activated in the software "Tweaks", then the key [Ctrl] is desactivated in "Blender".

This brings to my mind that a bug is not always caused by the software "Blender", but can be the result of an interaction or the use in the same time of another software, which modify the behaviour of "Blender".

If Blender isn't receiving the event, we cannot realistically resolve this on our end.

Best report this to "Tweaks" as this will impact any application that detects pressing Ctrl.
