System Information
Operating system: Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 64 Bits
Graphics card: GeForce 9300 GE/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 3.3.0

Blender Version
Broken: version: 2.83.5, branch: master, commit date: 2020-08-19 06:07, hash: c2b144df39
Broken: version: 2.90.0 Beta, branch: master, commit date: 2020-08-19 10:14, hash: 83c78529b9
Worked: 2.82

Short description of error
Faces become invisible and produce artifacts in the viewport, if assigned to materials from any slot other than the first slot.
1.jpg

You can still select invisible faces in edit mode
3.jpg

This is the original mesh with only one material applied
2.jpg

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blender, select the default cube and make sure it has more than one material.
In Edit mode, assign any face to the material from the second or the third slot.

Here I attached two .blend files, one with the window seen above and one with the default cube:
Window.blend
Cube.blend

The NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE is from the GeForce 9 (9xxx) series and was release in June 2008. It has 256 MB of memory.

This graphics card does not fulfill the minimum requirements for running Blender 2.83/2.9x.

Minimum

  • 64-bit dual core 2Ghz CPU with SSE2 support
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 1280×768 display
  • Mouse, trackpad or pen+tablet
  • Graphics card with 1 GB RAM, OpenGL 3.3
  • Less than 10 year old

NVIDIA: GeForce 400 and newer, Quadro Tesla GPU architecture and newer, including RTX-based cards, with NVIDIA drivers (list of all [GeForce ]] and [ https:*en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadro#Quadro_FX_(with_CUDA_and_OpenCL,_but_no_Vulkan) | Quadro GPUs)

@anmorgul Please read [this guide ]], it may help you write a bug report that allows us to fix your problem. In particular check that your GPU fulfills the [ https:*www.blender.org/download/requirements/ | minimum requirements for running Blender and that the graphics driver is up to date.

Supported Graphics Cards

If your hardware is supported, then please create a new report through Help > Report a Bug in Blender. We expect all bug reports to follow the submission template . Please provide system information (operating system, GPU, driver version), affected Blender version, previous Blender version that worked properly, a short and precise description of the issue, step by step instructions to reproduce it and, if relevant, a minimal .blend file that showcases the problem.
