Blender 2.9 Crashes when switching layouts

Graphics card: Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

Blender Version
Broken: 2.90

When I open this specific file (attached) and then switch to the main layout from the compositor layout it crashes hard.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. open file; either from blender or finder
  2. Click on any of the layouts from the top bar and it hard crashes

I downloaded your file and tried running it. For me, it crashes as soon as it is opened. When I tried appending objects from it, the windmill.001 object was causing the crash.

Thanks for the report. There is indeed a corrupt mesh (it is indeed from the windmill.001 object) in that file, if you run the following

bpy.data.meshes['BezierCurve.003'].validate(verbose=True)

you'll get a waterfall of error messages why this is corrupt.

Unfortunately unless there are clear instructions on how to reproduce it from scratch we cannot debug this any further.
Things that may cause mesh corruption: Importers, development versions of Blender, modeling tools.

So afraid we have to close for now (feel free to comment again if you know how this mesh got into the corrupted state - we can always reopen in that case)
