Blender Crashes When Opening a file with it's file Browser, and subsequently on startup. #80447

System Information
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics card: Geforce RTX 2070 and GTX 960m
Blender Version
Broken: 2.81 - 2.90
Worked: N/A

Description of the Bug
After seemingly random amount of use blender will crash when opening a file from within it (such as opening a texture) , from then on, it will crash when opening any .blend file or starting up in any way. Sometimes it will run for a little longer without issues, if it's started up, after closing all instances of blender, and then opening a new one. But after a few times, it will repeat this behavior. Happened on 2 different computers. Updating/reinstalling drivers seems to make little or no difference.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open Blender, try to use its file browser. Usually happens after some uptime, sometimes immediatelly, inconsistent.

Could you check if blender runs out of memory, in Task manager ? Also, is the thumbnail mode enabled?

It does not Run out of memory, I've checked this before. (tested it with disabling every other program after as well) Though I will check again when it crashed if that would be helpful (this was on the previous computer)
And no, thumbnails are not enabled.

In the 2.90 folder, find blender_debug_log.cmd and run it. After crash, find blender_system_info.txt, blender_debug_log.txt and crash.txt (find its path the the bottom of debug log). please upload those files.

Okay, I tested it again with the last crash, memory definitely didn't run out.
Ran blender_debug_log.cmd , but only blender_debug_output.txt has been created, and it's completely blank.
No crash.txt files seem to have been created either.

Hi sorry for late answer. This does look like some serious system problem to me. Sometimes windows will assign intel GPU to be used that could cause such behavior, if you have Intel CPU.

Can you check if this issue happens witl latest alpha build from https://builder.blender.org/download/ ?

If you can open Blender, click on Help > Save System Info and upload saved file? You can try to use blender_debug_log.cmd to generate that file, but I am not sure if it will work, when debug output was completely empty.

This is probably same issue as #81823 (Windows 10 Security update (KB4579311), breaks Blender. (Won't fully launch))

@BloodMachine please check if you have this update installed and if you can follow guide in report to make Blender work again.

Hello, did you managed to fix that issue somehow?
Currently I'm fighting with the same problem for about ~2 months.
The problem is starting when I'm opening file dialog (random times, not every time), and my workaround is to logout from current Windows user, and relog.
